The Most Amazing Piece of Internet Content Ever Produced

I was over at Mashable.com and discovered an interview with Will.I.Am. He talked about how he basically produced a song and video with collaborators in less than a week (John Legend did the production). It was inspired by Obama’s “Yes We Can Speech” he gave in NH. I had a chance to take a look at the video which has received 10s of millions of views over the Internet in just a few days. I was blown away at the production value, the time it took to produce, the amazing viral growth, and most importantly the positive message it has for America. Here is “Yes We Can”:

I stayed up all night on Super Tuesday and watched as Hillary Clinton dominated non-black minority and low income votes. The change we are talking about is unifying change. The hope we are talking about is unifying hope. To all my Asian, Native, White, Latino, African American, rich and poor brothers and sisters… Vote for hope, prosperity , and unity. Vote for change now! Support Barack Obama for President! WE ARE ALL AMERICANS… AND YES WE CAN!!!

My support for Obama isn’t blind though, there are many holes in his policy. It is our job to point them out. I produce an environmental comic called “The Oliver Report”. Check this last episode out: Clean Candidacy

    Even though I know better, I’m going to pretend that you mean my podcast is the most amazing piece of internet content ever produced. :-p

    Hey Travell! I, too, was up all night on Super Tuesday. I am an election junkie and feel that voting is more important now than ever. The problem I’m finding locally is that people feel they have to choose between so many evils as opposed to a solidly strong, good candidate. I am totally unimpressed with Hillary and have been since her first lady days. I believe that she will only continue to be the divisive, polarizing, manipulator she has always been. I worry, though, about Obama’s lack of experience. Do you know of any good informational websites that will give true and unbiased background information on Barrack Obama? Thanks! Great website, by the way!

    @rizzn,

    Hey my man. I listened to your podcast first which is what inspired this post. If I hadn’t have been a fan of you guys at Mashable.com this would have just been a cool video. Your podcasts added the depth and made me understand what it really was. It could have easily just been an Obama commercial, but it wasn’t. It was produced out of adoration, respect, and love. Your podcast was great! Why aren’t there more?

    @Erin,

    Thanks for stopping by. We are electing a human being, not a car. No candidate will be perfect for the task. That said Obama’s platform is important and different from the others. His platform is about us, the American people. He is supported by us and backed by us. He does not accept money from lobbyists; he doesn’t owe them anything once he gets into office. 95% of Obama’s donations from individuals were under $25. I’m proud to be in the top 5% that gave more. That said he has raised $32M, more than any other presidential candidate. He has the people engaged! WE are what’s missing from government.
    Listen to the Will.I.Am podcasts because I think he makes a lot of good points.

    As far as sources, go to barackobama.com. His campaign has spent a lot of time investing in making it easy for people to understand his complete record. Understand that this is the Internet, if there were blatant lies on his site he would be called out. Just as Bill Clinton was called out when he made false claims about Obama’s record. It cuts both ways.

    Like most people I just found him inspiring after listening to him speak on TV. It wasn’t until I went to his site and got the facts that I put down my first dollar. I voted about 2 weeks later on Super Tuesday. This is how he is winning. Inspiring and winning communities, bringing us together. When Barack wins we win; he represents us. Hillary is in bed with corporate America which stopped her universal health care reform. Barack was a civil rights attorney fighting for those who couldn’t defend themselves.

    As far as the experience question. It’s really a shell game lead by cynics. He is a 46 year old professional with a wife and 2 kids. If I didn’t tell you anything else would you assume he was inexperienced? I rest my case. The United States is the richest nation in the world. The fact that our social services are in the toilet just might be the biggest civil rights violation in human history. Who better for the job than a civil rights attorney. Plus in his first 4 years he’ll age by 10 ;)

    The reason why I like Obama and love this video is because it takes me back to a time when we had real leaders, leaders who took the podium and gave the people hope - Martin Luther King, Jr., the Kennedys. When was the last time a presidential candidate took the stand and said something that will be remembered and quoted for years to come? Even if he doesn’t turn out the be the best president, he’s done what someone hasn’t done in a very, very long time. He pulled hope out of people and that will always be an amazing thing thas is sorely needed.
