Obama, PA, and Energy

I got another email from the Obama campaign today that was focused on increasing involvement for voter registration. This is going to be critical. Here is a link to get started for registering Pennsylvania voters. After watching the community organizing video also watched a couple of ads that are running over in PA. I think ads do matter, but grass roots organizing is what gets the vote out. I’m from Philadelphia and I know that voter registration will be key if Obama expects to tighten the gap between Hillary. Hillary has the support of Ed Rendell, the governor, and has the support of the Philadelphia Mayor because he won’t commit political suicide. Philadelphia needs all the help it can get from the Governor’s Office. Having support from the mayor means that Hillary will try to limit Barack’s momentum in mobilizing the black vote. At the same time Obama is presenting his mother’s side to white and rural voters to win some swing votes. If Barack can avoid any negative news before this next contest he might be able to gain some ground in the PA contest.
Check out the ads running in PA:

And here is a cool excerpt from a Rally in Beckley, WV. The topic is energy:

Saint Patty’s Eve with Ben and Jen

Ben Affleck @ Obama Fund Raiser I had the pleasure of attending an Obama fundraiser in Downtown Boston with special guest Jennifer Garner, Senator John Kerry, and Ben Affleck. I had a great time with over price drinks and good company. Also had a chance to tape the guests of honor. Here’s a quick vid that I put together from footage from my Exlim. I tried to add a little bit of production values to the editing; I hope it isn’t too cheesy:

Here are a couple more pics:

Universal Health Care

OK folks, I know I owe you several promised posts and I will be putting up shots of the Grand Canyon soon. I’ve been trying to get some work done to pay the bills.

Anyway, I did have a chance to check out a site called YouBama.com for fun. Here is a cool video I found:

Here is another MC Hammer inspired Obama video that I thought was pretty funny:

Heading to Nevada: No SXSW for YOU!

So I’m heading off to Nevada for vacation. A little bit of gambling ($500 bucks) and a little bit of hiking in the Grand Canyon. They just let a ton of water back into the valley so I’m not sure how that is going to effect my trip, but oh well. So I won’t be going to SXSW :( Looks like Geoff Livingston isn’t going to SXSW either. I really wish I hadn’t booked this trip, but then again I wasn’t this deep into social media before now. This was just suppose to be something that roughly coincided with me quiting my job and taking a break. Most people actually wonder what I do in social media.

Turns out I design and build social applications, I just don’t write about it or consult ;p That said, I’m still operating under the radar, but will be launching in April. Around that same time I’ll be presenting at PodCamp NY. I also can’t go to Texas because I’m starting an online ecommerce class as a facilitator on Tuesday. I figured I wanted to back to BU since I recently finished my MS there. Plus you can’t get more purer than an online courseware in terms of social media. It would be cool to take online education beyond simple discussion boards though. That seems to be the heart of the WebCT Vista system. Anyway, let me wrap up so I can pack. Oh and also, I’m writing this on my new conference rig, a HP Pavillion 6780se. This is an awesome machine for the money.
