A Day In The Life (2009-04-30)

  • A lot can change in a year. YouTube has given way to Hulu and Twitter has jumped the shark on Oprah. Social Media != Democracy #
  • I still haven’t given up on democratization of profits though ;) I will still be working hard to make sure my service spreads wealth. #
  • @kshakir If you follow the trends there will be more applications for micro format / mobile applications. Huge silos will monetize or die. in reply to kshakir #
  • Entertainment classically converts unproductive hours of the audience into wealth for the provider. Twitter “steals” productive hours… #
  • Twitter is adult play. #
  • @niquy_nikki I say that tongue in cheek. It’s like having a great conversations with people you see every morning in the coffee shop 24/7 in reply to niquy_nikki #
  • @niquy_nikki This characterization of Twitter is before we include CNN/Oprah/celebs/ballers/celeb assistants/marketers/spammers/bots in reply to niquy_nikki #
  • So far the 30% retention rate of Twitter suggest people are too busy to play or 140 characters in fact does not compete with Facebook ;) #
  • @JWASHMARKETING You also have “marketing” in your handle, JK ;) Does getting the most from Twitter mandate use during working hours :( ? in reply to JWASHMARKETING #
  • Thanks to all for the lively discussion on all things Twitter. Back to the grind, wrapping up some UI changes today. #

A Day In The Life (2009-04-29)

  • Checking in some massive pre-launch changes. SVN cache is going nuts with 100% CPU utilization. Getting close, so close. #
  • So does seesmic have a shot? I see a lot of dev talent producing results, but I don’t see user growth or revenue. Loic is cool though. #
  • i guess I really don’t get how the whole Twitter ecosystem cashes in. This comes from a guy who has a product that integrates with Twitter! #
  • Kujo, my cat is going crazy. Pebbles, my Russian Blue, is just staring at both of us. OK, this means it’s time to hi the hay. #
  • Got a good bit of work done today. A lot of feed processing optimizations and front end UI work is solid. Checked in all the work. #
  • Wow, just went through my followers list. Missed a ton of real people since I last did a mass follow. Thanks everyone, hitting the hay now #
  • RT @mashable 12 Inspiring Stories of Successful Social Networkers http://bit.ly/wRiqD (via @tweetmeme) #
  • Swine Flu is just a test run for something much worst… #
  • Mexicans have died from their immune response, not the flu itself. This means the industrial agrifarms have leaked close cousins for some time #
  • The slow burn responses to swine flu outside of Mexico are evidence of the lack of a novel immune response to the virus. It clears like most #
  • Duplicate detection algorithm is a lot better now. Now I need to add caching to it and I’ll be all set on that front. #

A Day In The Life (2009-04-16)

  • Feedbot refactoring went well so now I should be able to support the addition of arbitrary feeds. Time to test things out. #
  • So learned a lot about RSS enclosures last night. Basically saw the right way to produce a feed that is shared in a Web 3.0 world. #
  • When it comes to relationships you have to challenge each other’s belief systems. They need to be compatible in the end. #
  • Some people choose to have adversarial relationships with the people closest to them. This is lose-lose and waste time and emotional energy #
  • The world is hard enough on its own. People who acknowledge this fact and attempt to make your world easier are keepers. #
  • OK, time to bury my head in the sand and get some real work done. Need to ignore the Silicon Valley Echo Chamber and get back to basics. #
  • When the biggest story is whether a second rate actor will surpass an old media cable news channel’s Twitter account you know it’s time. #
  • Don’t get me wrong, I like Mr. Kutcher…but is this representative of the promise of social media? Where celebrities and media empires rule #
  • In an enlightened move I have decided to remove community photos from the homepage. Control your brand. Twitter use to have a public feed #
  • The video “Twitter in Plain English” by Common Craft is no longer Twitter. What do Ashton Kutcher and CNN have to do with friends? :( #
